Fahlgren Becomes Fahlgren Mortine
Name Change Honors Legacies of Its Advertising and Public Relations Founders
COLUMBUS, Ohio (March 29, 2011) — The Board of Directors of Fahlgren, Inc., one of the nation’s top independent marketing and communications agencies, is proud to announce the company’s new name, Fahlgren Mortine. The new name reflects the company’s advertising and public relations founders, as well as the company’s ownership: the Fahlgren family and Neil Mortine. The name change is effective immediately; however, a new logo, branding and website will be developed and launched later this summer.
“The media landscape is complex and fragmented and becoming more so each day, and as a result agencies need to move beyond traditional approaches. It’s important that we unify our brands (Fahlgren Advertising, Fahlgren Mortine Public Relations, and Fahlgren GRIP Digital) into a singular focus on providing the best solution to our clients’ marketing and communications needs. Together, as one brand, one company, we unleash the ideas that make a measurable difference to our clients’ businesses,” said John Fahlgren, Chairman of the Board and son of Fahlgren advertising founder, Smoot Fahlgren.
“The lines between advertising and public relations are blurring, and digital has become a part of nearly everything we do in the communications world,” Mortine said. “As a top, national, independent advertising agency and public relations firm, this move is designed to allow our associates to continue to do what they do best in the disciplines of advertising and public relations, but to come together as a seamless, integrated team when it makes sense for our clients.”
Smoot Fahlgren founded the advertising agency in 1962. Neil Mortine founded the public relations firm as part of Lord, Sullivan & Yoder in 1986, and that group became Fahlgren Mortine Public Relations after Fahlgren acquired it in 2003. Mortine took the reins as CEO of Fahlgren, Inc. Jan. 1, 2010 and has since led the company through three strategic acquisitions: Cleveland-based Edward Howard & Co. in Q1 2010, Columbus-based GRIP Technology in Q3 2010, and more recently, certain assets of Dayton-based Sabatino Day in Q4 last year. Under Neil’s leadership, the company has grown 7.5 percent and is projecting 10 percent growth in 2011.
